Ymonitor extends Local Government performance assessment to Kaduna and Abia State

With the success of the recently concluded Local government Performance Survey in Cross River state, Ymonitor will be beaming its spotlight into two states in Nigeria, Kaduna state and Abia state, to look into the activities of the local government authorities in these states.

Local government administration is the nearest to the average Nigerians, and lack of accountability has been responsible for the lacklustre performance in the sector. Though underfunded, it’s not an excuse not to deliver the essential responsibilities required of them.

The self-acclaimed Centre of Learning, Kaduna state currently boasts of the country’s fourth largest and third most populous residents, while God’s own statem, Abia is the 27th most populous. As such, the citizens will most likely be affected by the workings of their grassroots government, and a non-effective and non-existent one will be detrimental to the states’ growth and national development.

An initiative of YMonitor, the local government performance report, was created to look into the authorities’ performance, asking relevant questions amongst the residents and making necessary suggestions and recommendations to boost progress and productivity in the region.

Our volunteers who are residents of the two states, will be interviewing the citizens, taking note of the current situations in their environment, and taking a survey, which will go a long way in making a necessary submission to people in the states and the country as a whole.

Good governance isn’t limited to the highest hierarchy of government, and it’s a collective responsibility that all citizens demand excellent performance from all tiers of power, not excluding the Local Government tier.

You can participate actively by following us across our social media platforms and be on the lookout, as our volunteers will visit a place near you soon.
