YMonitor Issue 092: National Cake Supplement

In a land of abundant resources and the time of boundless potential, the destiny of a great ‘thievesdom’ rest upon the shoulders of a black mixture, it’s name… “CRUDE OIL”.

In this land, the proceeds of the commonwell is used to bake a cake shared at a monthly jamboree by a Council of Three. Whenever the proceeds dwindles, the Council of Three orders for foreign-ingredients. Rather than prepare for droughts, the Council of Three is ever ready to make it rain from a cloudless sky.

Yes, your guess is correct. The land is Nigeria, the Council of Three is the FAAC, and the cake is the monthly allocation. A pathetic situation where the state and local governments, like teenagers relying on their parents, live off the monthly allowance from the federal government. As though the situation isn’t bad enough, we heard from an unusual source that the Council had to augment the ‘allowance’ for the month of March (2021) with newly minted N60bn.

You don’t believe it? It’s only political ‘stuntmanship’ courtesy of our man from the beading kingdom, right? But does that erases the fact that this land is in dire need of economic restructuring. I seriously hope we get it right before it’s too late. Just thinking about the consequences of not taking action now, I laugh in Spanish.
