Budget tracker: What you need to know about the Benue state N163.9bn 2017 budget

The budget is N163.9bn

It is a N13bn increment above the 2016 budget which was N150.7bn

The capital expenditure is N97.562bn

Recurrent expenditure is N66.348bn

The budget is christened: Budget of rural transformation

The recurrent expenditure is 40 per cent of the entire budget

The capital expenditure constitutes 60 per cent

According to the governor, the budget projects a N48bn revenue from the federation account, tax revenue of N11.1bn, non tax revenue of N29.9bn, domestic and foreign aid and grant of N1.1bn, and while N35bn would come from domestic borrowing.

Benue has a major project in the Cargo airport which was launched this year, though the administration was widely criticized for embarking on that project given the fact it was finding it difficult to pay workers salaries. The economic strength of Benue is in Agriculture.
