The Internally Displaced Persons camps that dot the North-East of the country and even north-central is a fall-out of the various state crisis that has plagued the country in recent times, especially the vicious and macabre Boko Haram insurgency that is on the verge of coming to an end, even though the ideological fundamentals would continue to be with us until we get some things right.
You recall that towards the end of last year, the Adamawa state government said it would close all IDP camps in the by January 2017.
YMonitor would be doing a daily count-down beginning from the first week of January till the end of the month or till that particular period in the Month when the closure of the camps would be announced and implemented.
We would be looking at emerging issues, touching the advantages of the closure, the likely challenges and what we expect from the government to the IDPs as they return to their home.
We would also be tracking events as they unfold with regards to the IDPs in Adamawa and raising critical questions as regards IDPs in the State.
