Grassroots Engagement in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.

As part of its aim of stimulating active citizenship especially amongst youth, YMonitor, an initiative of The Future Project which highlights crucial accountability and governance issues, held a grassroots engagement at Odi Olowo Local Council Development Area

The Odi Olowo engagement which held last week Wednesday, 24th of October, had elected officials of the local government in attendance. Councillors representing the wards in the LGA were in attendance. The Local Government Chairman was unavoidably absent, but ably represented by Honourable Mujeeb Daramola, the Secretary to the Local government, The CDA executives, HOD of Agric department among others were present at the event.

PARTICIPATION

A total of 110 participants took part in the engagement and included residents of the various communities under Odi-Olowo LCDA, leaders of Community and street development associations.

ENGAGEMENT

The program gave participants the opportunity to ask their elected officials questions relating to their stewardship in office, it also became a platform to get the LGA committed on the rehabilitation of bad roads within Odi Olowo Ojuwoye.

Participants raised questions regarding the waste disposal system in the LCDA, and the fact that it has not been effective. The LGA executives promised to address the issues raised and urged residents to make use of the feedback boxes stationed at various parts of the Community.
