Perhaps the event yesterday in Dar village of the Madagali local government area of Adamawa is a dent on the proposed intention of government to close down all IDP camps in the state by the end of January this year. You recall that in the early hours of yesterday the military repel attacks by fleeing terrorists in the said area.
But rather than seeing it as a dent, it should be considered as a plus to justify the readiness of the government to safeguard lives and properties in all areas of the northeast affected by Boko Haram insurgency.
There is no doubting the fact that there might still be crops of attack by the fleeing terrorists, but this can always be averted and tackled through the vigilance of both security operatives and natives of these villages.
Hence it is important that the government consider all areas and ramifications of security as they proceed in their quest to resettle the IDPs back to their respective communities. There should be an all inclusive social engagement in terms of security, and the security operatives should always be at alert to avert any form of attack that may want to resurface.
The Adamawa government should realize that it is setting the pace for other areas or states with IDPs who are also considering closing down their various camps.
