Contrary to the governor’s statement last year that the state will commence the construction of its light rail project by January 2017, the project is yet to commence and there had been no reason put forward for that.

Our readers living in the communities that is to host the project confirmed that there is no project of such ongoing in the area. YMonitor put a call through to the Political Head of the Ministry of Information, Chief Adedayo Adeneye and he also confirmed to us that the project is yet to commence.

Construction of the light rail was supposed to start from Agbara Estate to Berger Bus-Stop in Lagos (57 kilometres), Ofada to Sagamu (54 kilometres); and Abeokuta to Ijebu-Ode (84 kilometres). The first phase of the project is supposed to be completed in 2019.
