Lagos is currently like a ship without a sailor, this may not be unconnected to the recent political struggle in the state, where the sitting governor for the first time since 1999 was not given the required support to contest for second term in office.
People in different part of the state are groaning under heavy gridlock which has increased the amount of time they spend on the road. Those living using Ikorodu road for example experience this traffic delay on a daily basis, and there are complaints from commuters in Lekki as well.
The traffic situation across the state is exacerbated by poor maintenance of road. Most of these roads now have deadly potholes which makes it impossible to have free flow of traffic. In most of the current cases of gridlock across the state, potholes in the middle of the road is the major cause of traffic delay.
The governor gave a directive in September that all potholes in Lagos should be fixed. It is however obvious that the directives have not been followed.
It is obvious that the relief is in the other way round since the potholes are yet to be fixed. The consequence is the daily gridlock experienced in most part of the state.

The above pothole is directly in front of a petrol station, the road has been this way for more than a year, with no effort from government be it local or state to address the situation. The state of the road is largely responsible for the gridlock that happens on that road daily

This large pothole is one of the two on that road. It is particularly responsible for the gridlock on that road especially in the evening or peak period. In spite of the directives given by Gov Akinwunmi Ambode, the public works department is yet to fill the road.

FESTAC town has completely been neglected by not only these government, but also by previous administration. The state of infrastructure in FESTAC is horrible, yet the government is doing less to address the situation.

We are calling on the Lagos state government to address this situation across the state so as to ease the pressure on citizens.
