Below is a breakdown of the registered voters for the 2019 elections according to INEC. Some of the key figures and facts are highlighted
Registered Voters
The total number of registered voters is 84,004,084, 15 million more than the 2015 figure which stood at 68 million
States with the highest number of registered voters
Lagos and Kano states had the highest number of registered voters, with 5.8 million and 4.9 million respectively.
States with the lowest number of registered voters
Bayelsa and Ekiti have the lowest number of voters with 923,181 and 909,967 respectively
Geopolitical Zones
North West currently as a whole has 20,158,100 registered voters, which is the region amongst the regions in the country, constituting 24 per cent of the total, It’s followed by South West , which has 16,292,212 voters, constituting 19.39 per cent. South South has 12,841,279 voters, constituting 15.9%; North-Central has 13,366,070 voters, constituting 15.9% also; North-East has 11,289,293 voters, constituting 13.4% while South-East has 10,057,130 voters, constituting 11.9%.
Demography of Voters
Voters within age 18 and 35 years constitute the highest number of voters with 51.11 percent at 42,938,458 voters. While those between 36 and 50 years follow closely, constituting 29.97 per cent, at 25,176,144. Those between 51 and 70 years constitute 15.22 per cent, with 3,100,971 voters; While over 70 years constitute 3.69 per cent.
Gender
Male voters registered are 44,405,439 (52.86%), while the female voters are 39,598,645 (47.14%)
