YMonitor Issue 37: Lagos Affairs – Gbésè

Either you are a Nigerian or a lagosian there is no doubt that you have heard about the decision of the Lagos State government to confirm the popular saying which goes thus ” Eko o jina fi ese sa lo “( Lagos is not far you can trek there).

In a move that has generated controversy, Babajide Sanwoolu, the governor of the state claims that the decision of the government to place a ban on motorcycle and tricycle usage in the state is to curb the rate of accidents.

However, the effect of this ban on many lagosians is that it has left them no choice but to ‘gbese’ (trek) like Qdot said in one of his song.

The question of whether the action of the government is going to reduce the rate of accidents on Lagos roads remains unanswered, but for now lagosians have no choice but to gbese (trek) to anywhere they want to go especially work because the government killed the alternatives without providing alternatives
