YMonitor Polls: our followers want Boko haram prisoners swapped for chibok girls

s

Fifty eight percent of our followers want the federal government to swap Boko haram prisoners for chibok girls, while forty two percent opposed the swap. This is the result of a recently conducted poll by YMonitor on her twitter handle.

It’s more than two years now since the Chibok girls have been in the custody of the boko haram terrorists. The rescue of the girls was one of the campaign promises of President Buhari, and after one year of his Presidency, he is yet to secure the rescue or release of the girls. The recent video released by Boko haram awakened interest in the matter globally therefore putting the Buhari administration on its toes as it intensifies efforts at bringing the girls back alive. Last week at the UN meeting, The president called on UN to negotiate between the federal government and Boko haram for the swapping of BH prisoners for the release of the girls.

The question is: would it be alright to negotiate with the terrorists? from the result of the poll, majority of our followers do not see anything wrong in that especially given the inability of the federal government and its armed services to secure the girls release.

Those that are against the swap also have strong arguments, it would amount to negotiating with the terrorists which does not speak well of the federal government and the swap also portrays the federal government as weak. YMonitor believes that FG should consider the girls in the course of a taking a decision and should go for the best possible option. There is nothing wrong in swapping the prisoners for the girls if the federal government at this time is unable to determine the exact location of these girls, and do not have the intelligence capacity to determine that in the shortest possible time.
