Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Police has described the Cargo Airport project as unnecessary and economically not viable.
Speaking in Makurdi yesterday, Tsav queried the usefulness of the project in the face of more pressing challenges.
He said “Has Ortom no economic advisers? If he has, are they advising him at all? Nasarawa State, our neighbor, has an airport. Can’t we use that for now if we have any crops for export? Where are even the crops to export? I see the project as a conduit to siphon our money and a deliberate attempt to take over the NYSC farmland where maize is cultivated in large quantities annually by youth corps members.
“Our roads in Benue State are not good. In some areas there are even no roads. What farmers require now are fertilizer for crops and good roads to convey their produce to the cities. The Benue State Airport Project is a big fraud”
Do you share this believe that the cargo airport is economically not viable especially in the light of the present economic challenges in the country? Perhaps, the timing of the project is wrong. what is your take especially given the fact that the governor believe the project has the capacity to turn around the economic fortunes of the state. Let us have your take on this matter. Leave your comment behind or contact the editor of Ymonitor on contact@ymonitor.org
