YMonitor Issue 020: Wey My Money?

by Eyo Emmanuel,

Who remembers that Destiny’s Child song that goes “can you pay my bills? Can you pay my telephone bills…That seems to be the anthem for the States what are owing WAEC. Four billon naira in debt to WAEC and we wonder why our students are failing WAEC.

The failure has not started, it’s still in the egg stage of being a butterfly and if the debts aren’t paid off its only going to get worse.

Its so funny how states prioritize frivolous things like car’s and unnecessary allowances over important things such as education.

How are tomorrow’s leaders suppose to lead when their WAEC results are being held because some people have prioritized getting fat on puff puff over the education of our students?

I mean haven’t you guys noticed that a lot of our state governors look over fed, but that’s a discussion for another day, let’s not digress.

With all the funds that keep magically disappearing from one state to the other and all the stomach infrastructure that goes on within the state houses, and let’s not forget the poor conditions most government schools are in, our students deserve to have their WAEC results and not have their future toyed with cos the ogas at the top are too busy looking for excuses to explain why they’re owing WAEC than looking for actual ways to pay off their debts.

In the words of Rihanna “better have my money” should be WAEC’s daily reminder to these states.
