Sometimes I wonder if anyone can ever outperform our dear honourable ‘politricksians’ in the game of blame. With mastery in the science and art of hiding under guises which are seldom well-crafted, they peel off their robe of responsibility and dump it on anyone or anything considered easy target.
Yesterday, it is foreign powers preventing them from procuring needed armaments to wipe out insurgency, today unpatriotic citizens made Twitter snub Nigeria for Ghana for it’s first African Headquarters, and tomorrow more would be forced down our already sore throats.
But if you ask me, I will tell you our man with the oxymoron-sounding name spoke half the truth despite his obvious attempt to absolve the government of any blame in the whole Twitter African HQ siting matter. Yes, the truthful part was his fateful use of the word ‘unpatriotic’, because in it, we shall like Sherlock Holmes find the missing reason why Twitter overpassed Nigeria.
I reckon that since ‘patriotic citizens’ like our man with the oxymoron-sounding name, his peers, and the Captain continue to overlook ‘patriotic problems’ such as epileptic power, insecurity, insurgency, and corruption bedevilling the country, the obvious blame-target would be anything or anyone considered ‘un-patriotic’ by their ‘patriotic’ definition.
So I say let not be flaber-whelmed or over-gasted by the vituperations of our ‘patriotic’ leaders while they absolve themselves of all responsibility using one of their best weapons: blame.
