The Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima presented a budget proposal of N183bn to the state Assembly for 2017.
The reconstruction of schools destroyed by Boko Haram takes the largest allocation in the budget.
The school reconstruction would gulp N33bn in the appropriation bill. The budget is tagged ‘Budget of consolidation, restoration, and rebirth.’
“We have budgeted the total sum of N183,840,489,081.00 for both recurrent and capital expenditure. This shall be financed from envisaged internally generated revenue of N29,232,272,782.00 and allocation from the Federation Account of N117,663,719,507.00. The capital expenditure is put at N124,182,945,524.00 while the recurrent expenditure is put at N59,657,543,558.00.’’
