YMonitor Issue 094: Best In Rubbish Tolerance

YMonitor Issue 096: SAPA’S INVITE
27 April 2021

‘Dollars exchange is high’, I retort whenever the price of a commodity suddenly goes up, before the vendor conjure up an excuse-cum-explanation for the new hike. A comic situation where we buy a loaf of bread at N60, go to sleep, and wake up to a new price of N80. Reason? Flour, produced in the country, is costlier.

Arise O’ compatriots we say, but do we have any patriots left in this country at all. Producers, the middle-men, and retailers like the Merchant of Venice snatch up every opportunity to take a pound of flesh we never owe them. When will this stop? Until all that is left of us are bones?

Yet, the merchants are not to blame. There is no price control and the economy is still on sick leave getting different diagnosis and prognosis each year, while the government lacks the will to save her. What a peculiar nation we are.
