Nigeria’s Proposed and Approved National Budget Comparison (2015 – Date)

While there have been concerns over increase by the National Assembly of proposed budget figures, the recently signed 2022 Appropriation Bill wasn’t an exception.

The initial budget estimates for 2022 submitted by the President to National Assembly was N16.4 trillion, but the lawmakers eventually approved 17.1 trillion, N735bn higher than what was proposed.

On #YMonitorSpotlight today, we take a look at the figures of proposed and approved budget in the last seven years of the Buhari-led administration.

The figures show an increase in the various budget with a yearly average of 3.4% on the proposed budget; except in 2016.
