Boko Haram released a new video on claiming to show the missing Nigerian schoolgirls, alleging they had converted to Islam and would not be released until all militant prisoners were freed. A total of 276 girls were abducted on April 14 from the northeastern town of Chibok, in Borno state, which has a sizeable Christian community. Some 223 are still missing. According to Mallam Garba Shehu, the senior Special Adviser to the president on media and publicity, the release of the girls in a limited number is an outcome of negotiations between the federal government and the book haram group brokered by the Red Cross and the Swiss Government.

He stated that the girls released would soon be handed over to the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo by the DSS.

You would recall that more than 200 girls were kidnapped by the Boko Haram sect in 2014in the Chibok area of Borno state which sparked international outcry.
